Annapurna Circuit / Round Trek

Overview

Lauded as the best trekking trails in the world by many surveys, the Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of Nepal's ultra-classic treks. This extraordinary trek takes you to some of the most stunning and exotic places of Nepal’s Himalayas. The trek begins through a unique low land of Marshyandi valley and follows the upstream of Marshyangdi River enjoying frequent spectacular views of massive Himalayan peaks, including the Annapurnas and Manaslu finally leading us to the alpine meadows and then classic Thorong La pass. The trail passes through virtually every type of scenery that Nepal has to offer; ranging from sub-tropical through alpine to an arid semi-desert (similar to Tibet) providing travellers a unique experience. The climax of the trek is formidable Thorong La Pass (5416 m) which is perched at the height of 5416 m. and usually un-crossable from mid-December to mid-April because of snow. After the Thorong La Pass the trail descends to Muktinath which serves as the holy shrine for both the Hindus and Buddhists. It is a manifestation of religious harmony among the people living in the region.

We then head back down through exotic Jharkot and ancient Tibetan town of Kagbeni before heading further down to the dramatic Kaligandaki gorge popularly known as the deepest gorge on the earth (with Annapurna and Dhaulagiri towering some 7,000 metres above). We trek through various beautiful hill villages along the trails including Marpha and Tukche.  While trekking the towering Mt. Dhaulagiri and Mt. Annapurna continue to feast our eyes. Walking further down along ancient trade route to Tibet, we enjoy hot spring in Tatopani and climb the Poonhill for enjoying another great views of the Himalayas.

Stretching over 2600 sq. km., the area also boasts of a variety of diverse cultures, tribes and castes such as the Brahmins, Chettris, Newars, Gurungs, Magars, Manangis and the Tibetans. Therefore, this trek gives travellers a rare opportunity to experience a great variety of landscapes, cultures, people and flora and fauna in a single walk.
